Seeking English to Chinese Translator To Chalk Sidewalks For Lower East Side History Month, May 3 And/Or 4
FABnyc is seeking someone fluent in written Chinese, who can translate eight (8) English quotes and chalk them on sidewalks around the Lower East Side. The quotes reflect senior residents’ experiences as immigrants to the U.S. and reflections on the LES. You will be paired with a chalk artist who will designchalk drawings based on the quotes. Translator will chalk text while artist chalks visual element so must be physically able to chalk lettering on sidewalks.
Hours: 4 hour shifts. Check in will be Friday May 3 at 10am or Saturday May 4 at 11am. Additional info and materials will be provided at check in. Translator may request to work either the Friday or Saturday shift, or both.
Materials: FAB will provide quotes, map of sites to be chalked, chalk, and breakfast at check in.
Deliverables: Eight (8) translated quotes written in chalk on sidewalks throughout neighborhood. Each must be photographed and e-mailed to FAB.
Fee: $100 for one day chalking of four drawings. Upon receipt of photo documentation via email, translator can return to FAB and pick up payment by check or elect to have payment mailed.
